Where Art Lives: Richmond Rental Becomes Rotating Gallery Showcasing Local Creatives
Tucked inside a thoughtfully restored home in Richmond, Virginia, a new kind of gallery experience is unfolding—one that invites guests not just to view art, but to live with it. Curated by interior designer Kelly Lockwood Padgett, this short-to-mid-term rental space serves as a living gallery, blending high-functioning design with rotating collections of local artwork, vintage furnishings, and modern décor.
Throughout the year, the home is transformed with a new curation of work from Richmond-based artists, makers, small businesses, and designers. Guests might find themselves sipping morning coffee beside an original painting, dining at a handcrafted table, or relaxing beneath custom textiles—all created by the region’s emerging and established talent.
The concept not only reimagines hospitality, but also creates a platform for artists to gain exposure, sell their work, and have their pieces professionally photographed in a real-world setting. Sales are made directly through the artists, with no commission taken—just an encouraged 10% donation to a rotating list of Richmond-based charities supporting women, the arts, LGBTQ+ communities, and animal welfare.
More than just a stylish stay, the living gallery is a love letter to Richmond’s creative spirit—where history meets modern design, and where every corner holds a story worth discovering.
